Saturday, April 25, 2009 Investigators: John, Lulu, Art, Jesse, Patti & Nan Weather: clear and cool, mid 50s overnight
Mansfield prison has a reputation as being very haunted and draws in paranormal seekers from around the world. We had some personal experiences but nothing we would consider a haunting. Please enjoy a few of our comments from the investigation and some photos that were taken there.
We investigated the prison going from cell block to cell block including all the prison offices and "the wardens home" as well as "solitary confinement" and "the shower areas". We had a grim feeling of being watched in the Infirmary(John had a shoulder tapped) as well as the Commissary and the Solitary Areas(John's hair was tugged) and throughout the prison heard whispers just out of range of hearing what was being said.The pictures that were taken shown many "ORBS" to which WE believe to be dust from construction, from a vast remodeling project that is taking place .In many areas you can hear shuffling around and cell doors moving with no presence to be seen and a sense of being watched by unseen eyes. A feeling of dread is felt in the Wardens Home where his wife was shot and killed in a accident "while removing a gun from a shelf". This Trip did not turn up any videos and few pictures worth noting except Susan's picture taken out side of a mist in the Court Yard. All in all we believe that our visits are worth while and the staff has a wonderful location and has been working with a passion and a purpose.We shall return for many years to gather any evidence in the paranormal at this location.
and from Patti..... We took a lot of video and photos and got nothing of interest. The place is huge and amazing. I did get a very creepy feeling and heard movement around me in the back of "the toilet room" at 2:30am when a ghost is supposed to come down the stairs there... which is only remarkable because it takes a lot for me to feel creeped out, but I stayed and tried to capture the sounds on tape to no avail.
Even though I got no evidence I would definitely go again... simply amazing and I felt quite awestruck.
